Inside the synagogue, the Abisha Scroll, an early manuscript (written between 12th and 14th century) of the Samaritan Pentateuch (a version of the first five books of the Old Testament) is taken out of the safe at few occasions. End of Sukkot religious festival is an opportunity for women and children to whisper religious verses close to it. It is traditionally believed to have been written by Abishua, the great-grandson of Aaron. Modern scholarship, however, dates the manuscript to between the 12th and 14th centuries.
